Cultural and tourist complex «Archeopark»

Khanty-Mansiysk, Yuzhny microdistrict

11 life-size bronze mammoths are located in the cultural and tourist complex «Samarovsky Ostanets. Archeopark». They are perfectly visible from afar, and from this angle they look just like alive — an indescribable sensation. In ancient times, various animals lived here, including mammoths. This is evidenced by numerous archaeological finds made in the floodplain of the Irtysh River. Therefore, even now at the foot of the outlier there is a park of sculptures depicting animals of the Pleistocene time, as well as Paleolithic people. Walking down below, you will be able to see even more interesting things: a wolf pack, a primitive man's camp, primitive bison, woolly rhinoceroses, cave bears and bighorn deer. All of them are ancient inhabitants of these places. All figures are made as realistic as possible. «Archeopark» is a great place for a walk with the whole family. Children will especially like it here. The large area of the park will allow them to splash out energy, running from one exhibit to another. Which, by the way, can be touched. For example, to sit on the trunk of a mammoth.

Museum of Geology, Oil and Gas

Khanty-Mansiysk, Chekhov street, 9

To be in Khanty-Mansiysk means to learn a lot of interesting things about the black gold of Ugra in the Museum of Geology, Oil and Gas. You will not find an open institution of this kind anywhere else in Russia. A unique collection of minerals, the history of the oil and gas industry, the history of geological exploration, an extensive raw material fund, paleontological finds on the territory of the district, the equipment used in their work by geologists and oil workers – this is only a small part of what you can learn and see in the museum. The museum's collection includes 36,000 exhibits. The museum is ideal for a family visit. It will be interesting for both adults and children, because the expositions use multimedia labels, electronic photo frames, a touch kiosk, and a unique multimedia book, the analogues of which are presented only in two other museums in Russia. And to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere, it will be useful for children to visit museum and pedagogical excursions, which tell about the chemistry of minerals and even space. All this proves once again that going to the museum is not boring.
House-Museum of the People's Artist of the USSR V. A. Igoshev

Khanty-Mansiysk

House-Museum of the People's Artist of the USSR V. A. Igoshev

Vladimir Igoshev (1921-2007) was an artist who celebrated the identity and traditions of the northern peoples in his paintings. Once arriving in the Khanty-Mansiysk Region, the artist found his «cherished vein»: northern landscapes, portraits of representatives of the indigenous peoples of the North, plot compositions created by the Master, have become a significant contribution to the preservation of the artistic heritage of the multinational culture of Russia. In 2001, on the day of the 80th anniversary of the Master, the House-Museum of the People's Artist of the USSR V. A. Igoshev was opened in Khanty-Mansiysk, the collection of which includes portraits, landscapes and subject compositions written by the artist on creative trips to the Khanty-Mansi Territory. Architect Evgeny Viktorovich Ingema and People's Artist of Russia Sergey Vitalyevich Goryaev worked on the creation of the "gingerbread house", as it is often called by residents and guests of the capital of the oil region. Architecture in the style of Russian Art Nouveau is not accidental: it was in the art of that time that Vladimir Alexandrovich saw the origins of his own creativity. Every year, the House-Museum of the artist is visited by more than 5 thousand guests, including honorary guests of the district capital. On excursions to the stationary exhibition «Northern Way», visitors of the museum discover the culture of the indigenous peoples of the North, get acquainted with the artistic chronicle of the Ugra land created by Vladimir Alexandrovich Igoshev, and the atmosphere of creativity and love for their work still reigns in the artist's office-studio. The collection of the House-Museum of the People's Artist of the USSR V. A. Igoshev includes more than 100 works of the artist, united in the exhibition «The Northern Way of the Master», which can fully give an idea of the life of the indigenous peoples of the North. In addition, visitors are attracted by a special space - the «White Room» - where you can fully immerse yourself in the world of the artist with the help of an unusual installation, including photos from the artist's personal archive, his quotes and objects of his personal life.

The building is equipped with everything necessary for events for people with disabilities. There are special elevators for transporting people in wheelchairs, restrooms are equipped, and there is free access to the play areas. The main objective of the building construction is to create a modern material and technical base for chess development in Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug - Yugra. This is a high-level ground for holding various official international, all-Russian and district chess tournaments and other events on a high technical level in accordance with FIDE requirements. The first major event held in the Chess Academy building was the 81st FIDE Congress and Assembly in 2010. In August 2011 the Chess World Cup was held in the building, and in 2012 the Women's World Championship and finals of the Russian Cups for men and women were held. The Chess Academy has a «transformer» room with 128 seats, which allows for different organization of the space and spectator area, depending on the format of the event. Autonomous Institution «Ugra Chess Academy» of Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra is functioning in the building. For chess lovers of different age categories there is an opportunity to realize their potential in the specially equipped for this purpose room. Seminars and advanced training courses are held for chess coaches and teachers. For this purpose the building has all the necessary technical equipment and a conference room. When taking a class with one group (15-20 people) there is an opportunity to organize a zone of individual classes for students. Each study room is equipped with computers and interactive whiteboards which allow the trainer to use time effectively in the classroom. There is a separate computer room (25 working areas) for Internet competitions, Internet lessons for schoolchildren of general educational institutions of the Autonomous Okrug, Internet chess master classes for all comers from Yugra under supervision of leading Russian chess trainers. In the Chess Academy there are mass cultural events of Okrug, all-Russia and international importance. The chess club is one of the objects often visited by guests of the autonomous district.
The Red Dragon Bridge

Khanty-Mansiysk

The Red Dragon Bridge

Russia, Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug, 71-100K-05

The Red Dragon Bridge is one of the visiting cards of the district capital.

It is perfectly visible at the entrance to the city from the west side and when the plane lands at Khanty-Mansiysk airport. The bridge is almost one and a half kilometers long and 15 meters high.

It is believed that it was from here that the liberation of the village of Samarovo from the dominance of the rebels by the Red Army began in 1921. However, the bridge received its name not in honor of the Red army, but because of the color of the metal structures. In addition, the architecture of the bridge really resembles the silhouette of a dragon arching its back.

By the way, to connect the two banks of the Irtysh, the specialists worked for two summer seasons. The uniqueness of the operation was that the finished spans were transported on barges in parts and the previously installed supports were immediately assembled. On September 20, 2004, the bridge was put into operation. The bridge shortened the route along the Northern Latitudinal Highway by 1,250 kilometers.

Stele-memorial sign "to the discoverers of the land of Ugra»

Khanty-Mansiysk

Stele-memorial sign "to the discoverers of the land of Ugra»

Khanty-Mansiysk, the passage of the Discoverers, d 1

The place where the stele is located-a memorial sign to The "discoverers of the land of Ugra", is considered the highest point of Khanty-Mansiysk. It is from here that you can enjoy a panoramic bird's-eye view of the historical part of the city – Samarovo and the Irtysh river. This mountain reaches a height of 110 meters and is called the Commissar. The monument, designed by Moscow architect and muralist Karen Saprichyan, was erected here in 2003. According to the author, it should resemble the Khanty chum, the Cossack observation tower and an oil rig. That is why the stele is a three-sided pyramid. Its height is 62 meters. On each of the faces there is a relief panel that symbolizes different epochs: the ancient period of development of Ugra, the era of the conquest of Siberia by Yermak and the moment when the mass development of oil and gas fields began. By the way, this is the only stele in the area that can be exploited. Inside it is divided into three levels with the interior in the style of hi-tech. It uses the theme of water as a symbol of changing time and life. The building itself is made of glass and granite. At night, it is beautifully lit – there are more than 100 color programs that create up to 1000 different shades. Therefore, the building is clearly visible even from the embankment. The upper observation deck inside the building is not functioning now. However, you can also enjoy the city view from the street platform. It also offers an incredible panorama. In summer, it is one of the best places in the city to watch the sunset.
«Faberge Egg» Fountain

Khanty-Mansiysk

«Faberge Egg» Fountain

Few people know that in 2007, the sixth exhibition of the famous master's collection «Faberge lost and found» was held in Khanty-Mansiysk. Nine unique Easter eggs and other works of the jeweler were so inspired that a themed fountain appeared in the city. One of the most elegant and artfully brought to life. The Faberge egg is the only structure of its kind in the country. You won't find anything like this anywhere else. The fountain was installed on the territory of the art Center for gifted children of the North. The place was chosen not by chance, because the building has a symbolic meaning-it means creativity, which is the basis of all the arts. The 6-meter-high egg is decorated with a glass mosaic with the national Ugra ornament. And the bronze bowl is interspersed with pieces of smalt. These ornaments, combined with foamy and smooth water jets, create the illusion of precious stones. The fountain literally shimmers in the sun. Well, in the dark, the amazing work is illuminated by architectural lighting. Whenever you come to the fountain, the eye will be happy, and the photos will be really beautiful.
